‘ … in a wobbly line we find the truth of pencil’
Roland Barthes, The Wisdom of Art

Jenny’s work invites us to question the definition of drawing. She repositions the handwritten and drawn mark in a contemporary digital perspective, creating work that is an investigation into the relationship between time, memory and place. Jenny currently works in the medium of drawing, print, artist book and film. Recent large scale, site specific, socially engaged work involves asking the same question to a number of people, whose handwritten answers form the basis of the finished laser cut artwork. Each piece is accompanied by a limited edition artist book that credits all participants and contains all answers in typed format.

BA Hons First Class Drawing and Painting, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee; MA Multi Disciplinary Print, UWE, Bristol. Jenny has won over 20 awards, including an RSA Award for Painting, and a Scottish Arts Council Research and Development Award.
