When producing her textile art, stitching and attention to detail play a large part in the creative process, whilst the creation of three dimensional objects has always been a passion. Liza’s artist books are a happy marriage of these practices. Liza’s work is a response to her love of travel and interest in history and current affairs. Tracing the influence of human occupation on the environment and mapping changes in physical and political landscapes, she uses photography, drawing and writing to record her emotional response. Inspiration often comes when hillwalking, a time for reflection and gathering thoughts. Working in stitch, print, paint, collage and found objects she creates mixed media textile installations and wall hung work, and employs the same process to produce artist books. Recent work has focused on the effect of war, loss and displacement of human populations. Liza lives and works in Edinburgh.
